Vandoren VK7 Synthetic Tenor Sax Reed
Vandoren VK7 Synthetic Tenor Sax Reed
The VK1 was Vandoren's synthetic for the classical crowd. The VK7 is the same seven-years-in-development composite, rbut ecut for jazz — a brighter, more flexible design built for more projection & flexibility.
If you play sax, the pitch is simple: a jazz reed that's identical out of the package every time, needs no soaking, shrugs off humidity, and can be washed (or disinfected, if you're a doubler sharing horns). For outdoor gigs and pit work, that consistency is the whole product.
And if you play bass clarinet: yes, this works on your mouthpiece. Tenor sax and bass clarinet reeds are nearly identical and interchangeable — it's why I've recommended the Légère Tenor Sax French Cut to bass clarinetists for years. The VK7 tenor gives you a second synthetic option with a "jazzier" profile than the VK1 bass clarinet cut, and to be honest, it's closer to the Légère that I like.
As with all VK reeds, the factory seal has to be broken to play one, so these are not returnable. (Sorry!)
