Paraffin Teeth Cushion-by the yard/meter

Paraffin Teeth Cushion-by the yard/meter

Forget cigarette paper. Forget denture tape. Forget floral tape. Medical-grade paraffin is the solution to the problem of teeth cutting into the underside of your lower lip. x

I've been using this stuff for about 30 years. (And Ezo-lovers, welcome. I think you'll love this as a replacement for Ezo.)

What is it? It's paraffin wax which comes in a very thin sheet. When folded and placed on the teeth, the heat of your mouth creates a perfect fit. You can use each cushion for several days. It's very smooth (unlike paper or tape), thin (unlike floral tape) and extremely comfortable to use (unlike either)! And it is much less expensive than some of the new options on the market.

Here's how it works:

Step 1. Cut off a about an inch (25mm) of the paraffin sheet.
Step 2. Fold in half lengthwise, turn 90 degrees, and fold again. (Or you can fold it in 3 for a thicker cushion)
Step 3. Fold again and press over teeth. In about a minute, the heat from your mouth will form the sheet perfectly to your teeth.

Let's do some math: Roughly 70 cushions. Each lasts about 3 days. That's 210 days of cushions—and that's if you practice every day!

Not bad for 3 bucks.

Note! During summer months, in hot climates, this stuff will melt. I recommend not ordering and shipping unless it will be delivered to a temperature under 80º F/27º C.

New: I'm now carrying Teeth Cushion Travel Cases for just a couple bucks. It's a great way to carry this stuff around, and ready to go!

Paraffin Teeth Cushion

Best product out there and very affordable! Cigarette paper gets slimy and soggy and customized teeth molds made by the dentist are very expensive. I make up 10 of these paraffin molds at a time and keep them in your nifty carrying case.

Mike Lowenstern, bass clarinetist extraordinaire has countless youtube tutorials and some very tongue in cheek ones as well! He created earspasm, online business providing unique products. One is his paraffin custom teeth cushion film. Comes in variable lengths. Buy as much as you need. One cuts desired length, fold over for whatever thickness you need to avoid lower teeth from shredding your lower inner lip. Clarinetist's issue depending how your individual bite is. Once you custom the size each mold lasts about 1 week but it's very affordable! Takes about 1-2 minutes to mold to your teeth. I've tried cigarette papers but they get soggy and slimy. Great product for the price! You can also get a nifty case to store them in.

Needs to come in varying thicknesses. I bite clean through in about 2 rehearsals and I'm using 3 inches at a time. (I have very sharp incisors)

My lip is no longer getting stuck in my teeth!

Thank-You! Thank-You! Thank-You! This product is exactly what I was needing. One of my front teeth has gaps in both sides and playing the alto clarinet would push my lip into the gaps until a ridge formed and then my lip got stuck in my teeth. I would last about 45 minutes of practice time.
An internet search showed me that I am not alone in clarinet-lip agony, and here is the answer! The paraffin bridges the gaps and keeps the lip out of the teeth (it cushions the top of the teeth as well), so my lip is no longer the limiting factor on my practice time. It is easy to use this product, and once the piece is trimmed to the shape I want, it stays put and I can forget it is there and focus on playing. I love how it quickly forms to my teeth too. I double on bass-clarinet and leaving the paraffin in place is not a problem as I switch back and forth in rehearsal.
I will definitely continue to buy this product and would recommend it to others.

Sure beats the old dental wax I used to use!

I have a lot of scaring on the insides of my mouth from my days in braces when I marched trumpet and played clarinet in band. These paraffin cushions are the perfect solution, they are easily stored in my case so I can play longer wherever I am.

Life saver or should i say lip saver! Works like a charm

Life saver or should i say lip saver! Works like a charm. I’d by 6 feet if you play at least several times a week. Maybe more if every day. Works so much better than the harder wax stuff that need to out under warm water. No comparison. Mike is GREAT.

Fantastic!

It replaces the now defunct EZO dental cushions $3/box when available, now, unavailable they’re price gouging at up to $400/box. Bless you!

just what the dentist ordered!

Just what the dentist ordered!
My sax teacher used to get her paraffin cushions from Japan but they stopped making them. So as far as I know you're the only supplier.

I was still having a problem with my lower inner lip bleeding after playing my Alto for 4 hours

I was still having a problem with my lower inner lip bleeding its very small amount of blood after playing my Alto for 4 hours. Now the last 4 or 5 days i have not been bleeding at all! Because it seems to be helping i will continue to use the product! I will buy more when i run out if it continues to work. I have also found one piece last for many days unless i bit down on it had and cut it in half

Earspasm Parrafin Teeth Cushion

This product works great. Much better than cigarette paper or similar material in my opinion. Each 1 inch piece lasts 2-3 practice sessions, depending on length of practice, of course.

This stuff is amazing! I can now practice longer with less discomfort from my teeth cutting into my lower lip. I’m ordering more to get me through the long Arizona summer.

Excellent! Paraffin Teeth Cushions are the best lower lip protection I've ever used.

Highly, highly recommended for the seriously passionate player: I will be ordering more Paraffin Teeth Cushions today: this product is the best solution to enable extended practicing, rehearsals or if one has been down with flu & not able to pick up the sax, clarinet for 2 weeks, let alone play them: doesn't take more than a few days for the lower lip to soften & the embouchure to weaken: the Paraffin Teeth Cushions have been a life saver.

Comfy

I used to use Evo denture strips when I was playing hours a day in high school and college. I recently got hired for a few jobs and am playing WAY MORE than I have in many years and I found out Evo doesn’t exist anymore. I found these paraffin strips through a Google search and I’m very satisfied. I only fold it once because I felt the thickness when following the instructions was too thick for me. With one fold, I forget it’s there while I’m playing.

My only thought for improvement would be to have an easier way for the strip to rip. I have been using scissors to get a clean cut.

Don’t get the expensive dental guards, just get this

I’ve seen so many teeth guards and they are always $100+. This stuff does just as well for me and is so cheap, I won’t ever use anything else.

Great value, easy to use, happy lip!

I'm a French horn player who has been struggling with rough skin inside my lower lip. Paraffin teeth cushion has been terrific. It's kept my lip tissue sliding over my teeth, as it should, and using it has allowed the tissue to recover. I've ended up using it in a single layer, but the cost is so good that I've not felt guilty at all about cutting it into dozens of pieces and trying as many different sizes/shapes/folds/configurations of pieces as I wanted. If the interface between your teeth and lower lip are bothering you in any way, give this stuff a try!

This item should be discontinued.

I am a professional saxophonist (www.randyscottonline.com) with 46 years of playing experience and 30 years of teaching experience. I love the other products produced by Earspasm, but the Paraffin Teeth Cushion is not usable.

RIPOFF

I thought this would actually be like paraffin. I was a tiny piece of VERY thin "something" that wouldn't stay in my mouth or mold to anything.

"Don't give me any lip!" - My bottom lip

If you have some sharp edges on your front bottom teeth, these worked great as cushions. I loved the ease of ordering the paraffin and case together. It should last me a while and I can always come back to buy a refill. Your bottom lip will thank you like mine and now there are even fewer excuses to practice frequently ;)

Travel case for teeth wax

I'm using this system and like it. It works well in keeping my lips safe from my teeth. My only comment is I would like the wax to be a little less more reasonable.

N

These do a great job of protecting my lips from my sharp teeth, which lets me play for much longer before my emboucher fatigues.

This stuff really works. Played a two hour rehearsal on the same piece ( folded into 4x thickness) and I never bit through it. Not bulky even folded 4x.

This is an amazing product to protect the lip! I am a clarinet player and have been for about 50 years and have always used bits of paper towels or cigarette papers to cushion my lip. I was so glad to finally find this product. I got the sheets and then just cut them into 1 inch pieces. I keep a stash in my case and just pop one in as needed. The wax is much more durable and doesn't slide around like the paper ones I was using.
