Weissenborn Bass Clarinet Study No. 5
Weissenborn Bass Clarinet Study No. 5
Originally a bassoon study, this etude offers some great practice going over the break. As if Weissenborn somehow knew that it would be eventually transcribed for Bass Clarinet. Spoooooky!

For someone like me, who comes from saxofone, it helps a lot. And it sounds good!
I love this piece. In addition to sounding good, it’s a great piece to use to get comfortable with quick register changes, mouth adjustments, and circular breathing. And to top it all off, it’s free!
Love this shop and how overwhelmingly kind and genuine it is :))
I've been practicing this piece through and it's honestly made me a better player.
perfect for Bass Clarinet to get known all the special fingerings, besides it´s a very nice piece of music.
Thanks for sharing this.
Amazing, and fun, study piece that serves as a great way to get used to jumps. (Plus it’s free)
It was awesome to play through.
Nicely engraved piece that fits on one page.
Very fun piece, I'd love to see more studies like this one.
It's good and it was free.
Great service and great overall experience
It was great! I love this etude!
This study is great! I am getting back to playing bass clarinet and on a low C rather than an Eb. This is a great tool to learn the new keys and finger positions. I play it almost every day.
I truly enjoy playing this piece on clarinet and bass clarinet
I found it very helpful in preparing for work I had coming up.
Thanks for the study. I love to play it, to get better on my bass clarinet.
Super useful resource! thanks Mike!
It was sheet music
Searching the interwebs for "crossing the break" exercises lead me to this. Being a sax player covering a second Clary part for a Christmas show, I need all the help I can get. This one is kicking my... lack of technique!
It's a great exercise on any clarinet. I've played it on Bb, Alto, Bass and Eb contra just as a reminder before I use one of those clarinets in anger.
Thank you for the Weissenborn study.
I've found it a really good practice piece.Unfortunately when printed out I appear to have lost part of the last bars at the end of each line
Nice quality, readable unlike some other digital downloads.
I love the Weissenborn No. 5, even though I'm not anywhere NEAR ready for it (been taking clarinet lessons for two years, beginning at the ripe old age of 59!). But I play a few lines from it every practice session, and I like to imagine it's making me a better player. Thank you for inspiring me and for the opportunity!
This etude is really helpful for so many different aspects of technique that I'm working on. Thank you so much for making it available!
had everything that in the score as marketed and was very useful amazing as always
These are nice pieces with a bit of a challenge. It's also nice to have the chance to play with Michael.
This is a good study.
It's a great little exercise; I really like it -- on my Bb clarinet.
Great website and live your videos.
Very helpful study thank you
that Michael would play it and suggest it
I value his advice a lot
