This bass clarinet stand is technically a bassoon stand, but frankly, it's a terrific option if a) you want something that doesn't require you use a peg and b) still works with a peg if you want it to. Technically, it's portable — it folds up into a small (-ish) 25" x 5" (645mm x 120mm) clump of steel that weighs about 6 pounds (2.75kg), which is definitely something you can travel with.
Why do I like this stand? Because it's something that you would be very hard-pressed to knock over. In orchestra/band, this thing will withstand the bump and swipe from your fellow musicians (or yourself), yet it's still something you can pack up and take with you. (Try that with one of the $300 Blayman stands, which are awesome but 100% non-portable. Those would be like carrying a tire-iron welded to a brake drum back and forth to rehearsals.)
This stand is fully height-adjustable for all bass clarinets, (or bassoons) and you can use it with a peg, or not — you can safely put the bell of your instrument in the rubber cup at the bottom without any chance of scratching it.

This stand is massive when extended and portable enough for my needs when folded. I prefer the "bassoon" version to the "bass clarinet" because the bassoon cup is better than the triangular thingee that can only hold the instrument by the peg, where as the cup can hold the instrument by the bell - which IMO is better because that way the neck rests where there are no keys and it is faster if you need to grab it. I have both, and I use the other one for my Low Eb Yamaha which I have out most of the time anyway. The cup is deep enough to be used with a low Eb peg either front or back facing. For my Low C or when I go out, I definitely use this version. Thank you Michael for fantastic service and super fast shipping (not to mention the best price on it :))
This stand works great! It supports my bass clarinet without any issues and is decently compact and foldable. Overall it's the perfect stand for me.
