Earspasm Premium Bb Clarinet Reed Case

Earspasm Premium Bb Clarinet Reed Case

Holds 6 Bb Clarinet reeds comfortably, safely and beautifully.

Made with sustainably-sourced wood, natural mahogany stain, premium velvet and glass, solid brass hinges, and strong neodymium magnets to hold the case closed, this case is especially perfect for synthetic and cane reeds alike.

Important note for synthetic reed users!

Vandoren engineers specifically recommend this type of reed case for their VK1 reeds. They actually recommend you NOT use one of their Vandoren reed cases because of potential damage to the sides and tip of the reed. Which is why I made these cases to begin with.

Does this case hold bass clarinet reeds?

Nope. But these cases do!

It holds your reeds.. and not much else.

I’ve used this case and the bass clarinet reed case for just over a year now, and I just switched to the D’Addario reed case a few days ago. This case is absolutely GORGEOUS, and everything about it is just awesome - the mahogany wood, magnetic snap when you close it, and the silky velvet on the inside are just bliss.
That being said, as a cane reed player, these cases are really only good if you play synthetics. There’s no room for moisture packs, and for someone playing in dry areas (cough cough, Las Vegas), my reeds warp consistently even with good care. Additionally, exclusively on the Bb clarinet reed case, my reeds are flimsy, and almost never stay in place. I’d sometimes open my case up to my entire catalog being flipped 13 different ways. It’s just not a great way to haul reeds for me. I’m sure for some people it’s the end all, be all, but in my opinion, there’s a lot of better options on the market.

Hi Jack,

I hear you loud and clear on this.

I wanted to share two ideas since I use a couple different reed cases and go to Vegas all the time with my clarinet. Both sets of our parents live in Vegas.

I keep my wooden/glass plated reed case and my old school plastic clamshell Vandoren reed case in one of our large ziplock bags with a humidifier pack in there. On my most recent trip (returned two days ago) this worked well!

About the reeds moving around. Which way are your reeds pointing? I find that butt of the reed to the hinge side of the case makes them way less likely to move all over the place.

Thank you for your straightforward and honest review and also the recommendation of the D’Addario reed case. As a D’Addario dealer, we may just look into carrying that case!

All the best,
Katherine

Love My Reed Case

'Premium" is right. This is a high-quality case in every respect. It has a solid feel reinforced by a satisfying snap when I close the lid. Inside my synthetic reeds stay firmly in place. It's also quite good-looking with a polished wood finish.

This is a must buy for anyone playing synthetic reeds. I'm so glad I can ditch those plastic individual cases and fit all my reeds in one sleek and classic style case. The reeds don't move around at all once it's closed and it's now easy to go through all my reeds at once. Worth the buy!

Treat yourself and your hardworking reeds to this fabulous case. It does its job elegantly and the magnets keep it from opening.

Really nice case. I probably should have read the description more closely as I though the image was a printed gold earspasm logo. Imagine my happy surprise to find out that the logo is actually ETCHED into the wood case. Really nice touch.

I love this thing to an irrational degree. It's beautiful, functional, feels good in my hand, and I like the magnetic closure. I use synthetic reeds and this is the perfect way to carry them. If I could get it for bass clarinet reeds I would buy it in a minute.
