Concert and Contest Collection for Bass Clarinet (backing tracks)

Concert and Contest Collection for Bass Clarinet (backing tracks)

The Concert and Contest Collection for Bass Clarinet (lovingly called “The Rubank Book” in my house) is a terrific collection of beginning and intermediate bass clarinet solos, first published in 1973 by Rubank (now Hal Leonard)

For the first time in 40 years there is finally a recording of this stuff. I got the book in 1979 when I was 10 years old and 6 months into learning the bass clarinet. I eventually played through about half of it over the course of the next 3 years. (But to be to be totally honest, I only played a few of these for the very first time when I was preparing this recording!)

Each of the downloads below includes both a performance of the piece with Bass Clarinet and Piano, and a recording of just the piano part to play along to (with a metronome counting in one measure before it starts).

Just like Suzuki violin books, only better.

I would like to thank Michael! I just bought a bassclarinet and love playing it. He is promoting this wonderful instrument so well and offering the play alongs is very helpful. I didn't play the clarinet for 30 years and now I can't stop playing. Thank you!
