The V12 reeds are fantastic. One of the first "line extensions" of the Vandoren product line back in the 90s, they have a thicker tip and longer pallet that results in a richer sound. They typically are about 1/2-strength harder than the traditional cut (the "blue box") so take that into consideration.
Feel free to buy single reeds—I don't charge a premium for breaking up a box, so you can just buy a few, or mix and match. Seriously no one else does this.
For those doing math, I price these reeds as one-fifth of a normal box of 5 reeds. But you don't need to buy a box to get this discount!

First of all, I appreciate a possibility to try out a new single reed instead of buying a whole pack of reeds that may not work for you. Luckily my daughter really loved B12 reed, and she is a convert. Also, packaging and shipping were great!
I've used blue box Vandorens for a while. I tried some of these on a whim, having gotten advice from a friend that they produce a darker, richer sound. Wow. I've never heard an open G come out of my bass clarinet that sounded like what these can produce. Paired with a B40, they produce a sound that is somehow warm, dark, flexible, and centered all at the same time--at this point I'm just throwing adjectives around--they're amazing. I've only tried two, but both produce the sound I crave better than any blue box Vandoren I've tried. Go a 1/2 size softer from standard Vandorens and you should have the right strength for you.
