If you need a C clarinet, you need a C clarinet. And you need it to sound beautiful, in tune, and be easy to transition to + from as you move between instruments.
Well, thankfully, Uebel designed their C clarinet from the ground up, taking into account all of the challenges inherent in this unique instrument, and has built a real winner. It's a C clarinet that is a joy to play.
As a part of their versatile Superior line, which includes the Plateau Clarinets and Basset Horns, among others, this instrument carries with it a similarity to its siblings, namely a uniquely compact sound that's dark but can carry to the back of a hall when needed.
This Superior C Clarinet has a terrific scale, and comes with not one, not two, but three different barrels for tuning needs. Other thoughtful touches, like an ergonomically-placed Eb/Ab key, and Uebel's proprietary bell modification to improve lower register intonation, come standard. Oh, and it takes a standard Bb mouthpiece and reed, so you don't need to worry about that, either.

- Pochette case (this case, I believe, is a modified Bb clarinet case. You may notice that it's too big for the instrument, but you'll also notice that the instrument fits in it like it was made for the C clarinet.)
- Leather case cover from a famous-luxury-brand-I'm-not-supposed-to-know-about-and-can't-tell-you-either. But it's suuuuuper nice.

Q: Does the instrument come with a warranty?
A: Yes, it comes with the standard Uebel 5-year warranty against cracks, and 2 years for mechanical issues. If you ever have any problem with the instrument, I'm your quarterback. I'll take care of the whole process, just let me know you need help, and I'll take it from there.
Q: What happens if it's damaged during shipping?
A: Inspect the package before you sign off at delivery! If there are any issues resulting from shipping, we have taken out an insurance policy to cover damage (and loss). But we need you to document this damage or we can't do anything to help. Please read my trial policy for how to handle this issue, should it arise.
Q: If I decide to return it, do also I have to pay return shipping costs?
A: Yes. And you will also want to insure it!
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes, but please contact me first for the shipping cost. I will adjust the cost based on your actual address. International shipping costs vary, and range between $300-500 USD. Please note that you will be responsible for any Customs Duties.

Since September 2023, I have purchased not one, but five clarinets from Earsapsm Music and Michael Lowenstein, including my most recent acquisition: the Uebel Superior C clarinet. So, while I do try to be objective in my reviews, I may be a bit biased.
Why a C clarinet...? Is it a necessary instrument, or an indulgence...? As most orchestral clarinetists know, a fairly large amount of the repertoire is written for C clarinet. But for most clarinetists, a C clarinet is not necessary, as it is NOT difficult to transpose parts for Bb clarinet. However, the C clarinet has a unique sound that is not the same as the Bb clarinet, and C clarinet was often chosen for its tone color in orchestral music. For many--if not most--orchestral clarinet players, this instrument is a necessity, but for most, it is an indulgence...but a very worthwhile indulgence if it does not break the bank.
As I said in a previous review: "Any clarinetist that has not tried an Uebel clarinet is missing out.... While there is no doubt that Buffet, Selmer, and others make fantastic clarinets, this Uebel ( as are all Uebels) is just plain fantastic...." Well built, superior keywork, a solid and tight mechanism, and great wood combined with fantastic German workmanship make this--and ALL Uebels like Buffet clarinets on steroids. It uses a standard Bb clarinet mouthpiece and reeds, and comes for 3 barrels to make tuning the instrument easier.
In my opinion, this C clarinet is one of the best instruments that I have purchased. I am so impressed with both the musical qualities of this clarinet, and overall build quality that I say without reservation that "Uebel is simply the best." Okay, maybe a bit over-optimistic, as Buffet, Selmer, and others make fine C clarinets as well.
Uebel clarinets are like Buffets on steroids, and are simply the best instruments that I have played on to date. Clarinetists that have not tried Uebel clarinets are missing out. I am not saying that Uebel clarinets of any model will be to everyone's taste or preference, but they provide a fandamntastic option to be considered by all.
